He is highly regarded amongst all his students and professionals a.k.a. Howard’s disciples.
Howard started his teaching at North Shore Country Club as an Assistant Golf Professional to Carl Lohren, one of the great golf instructors of our time. Carl was known as the Pro’s Pro, responsible for teaching NY/Met section professionals as well as many PGA Tour Pros, author of “One Move to Better Golf”. During Howard’s time w/Carl, he gave countless lessons teaching at numerous golf schools across the country. Twelve years later Howard became the Head Golf Pro and Director of Golf at The Woodcrest Club in NY, where he met Peter Croker, a great golf instructor as well as an outstanding tournament player. It was there Peter gave Howard the missing link to the golf swing (the hands), which he has carried forward in his teaching. After leaving the Woodcrest Club, Howard teamed up again with Peter to teach at the PGA accredited “A Path to Better Golf Schools”. These schools were attended by roughly 300-400 PGA apprentices and professionals. Howards is currently the Director of Instruction for the Mitchell Spearman Golf Academy, Mitchell is recognized as one of the top 100 Golf Magazine teachers in the world, including teaching for numerous LPGA and PGA Tour Professionals.
With a great passion for teaching, Howard estimates having given over 50,000 lessons to date. If you ask him what his greatest achievement or honor is in golf, he won’t tell you about the numerous PGA professionals he’s met or the professional athletes and celebrities he’s worked with in the last 50 years, but he will tell you it’s the cumulative enjoyment he gets seeing the thousands of every day golfers he has taught to play better golf then they ever thought possible that he is most proud of.
